As a DSE Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and execution of the testing effort on a project or product team.  This includes

  • documenting test plans
  • building and executing comprehensive suites of automated test cases for newly integrated features
  • reporting defects and following up to ensure they are addressed
  • documenting test evidence for validated systems
  • maintaining the automation framework
  • evaluating test cases for inclusion in regression test suites
  • contributing to development of tool sets to enhance QA and Testing Strategy.

You will manage and apply all appropriate test metrics for the product/solution to track progress towards our quality targets.

You will be an integral part of the delivery teams and squads, with a primary focus on software testing and quality control.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Your primary responsibilities will be reviewing software testing requirements, development and execution of test plans and test cases with a strong emphasis on using code and automation to shorten the test cycle in line with DSE test strategy.

You will need to be able to integrate and work in a proactive manner with both cross-functional Agile or Waterfall delivery teams and perform estimation, planning and execution for all testing activities.

You will need to own test automated scripts cycle (design, development, execution and maintenance) and produce test plans with clearly stated procedures and success criteria.

You will need to ensure all development tasks meet quality criteria through test strategy/planning, test execution, quality assurance and issue tracking.

You will need to analyze test failures and work with development to mitigate/resolve any issues.

You will need to report all testing related metrics on time with due diligence.

You will need to be able to contribute to software validation documentation in support of Good Clinical/Manufacturing Practice (GxP) and Software Medical Device (SMD) development.  Documentation will include requirements/design/test matrix, documented test steps, and test evidence that can be referenced as part of regulatory body software audit activity.

You will need to establish strong relationships within your delivery teams and make the decisions that will improve/simplify testing to meet our objectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5-7 years of Test specific experience which includes the following: hands on test automation, test case design, test case execution, system testing, integration testing, regression testing and bug management.

Relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a test engineer, software developer, database administrator, computer engineer, or engineering lead.

Experience creating and leading the implementation of test automation strategies for new software projects as well as legacy applications

Experience defining the scope of testing for Manual and Automation within the context of each sprint/release and delivery.

A history of working in agile, lean and/or continuous delivery development teams

Experience testing cloud-based applications in AWS and/or other PaaS/SaaS platforms

Hands-on technical experience in designing and building test automation frameworks in a broad range of languages and technologies that are suitable for testing applications developed in PHP (Drupal, Laravel), Javascript (Vue, Angular, Ionic), Java (Mulesoft) and Python e.g. Selenium, PHPUnit, PyTest, Jmeter, JUnit and frameworks such as Behave, Serenity, Jasmine, Protractor, Appium.

Experience using bug management tools (e.g., Jira), test management tools (e.g., Test Rail) and collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence, Sharepoint). Ideally, including plugins such as Zephyr or Xray.

Good knowledge of using and automating integrations with test clouds such as Browserstack, Saucelabs, Xamarin

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

As above and including Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines.

Experience with software testing in regulated industries and the production of documentation in support of regulatory compliance.

OVERALL:

A proven track record in software testing.  Thorough knowledge of structured test methods and delivery processes (including waterfall and agile methodologies).  Detailed knowledge of both manual and automated testing along with automation framework definition.
