Greece’s first Early Stage Support Initiative
What is BioSTART?
BioSTART is the flagship innovation support program of BioInnovation Greece, designed to turn high-potential scientific research into viable biotech startups.
Launched in 2025, BioSTART provides a structured, non-dilutive pathway for early-career scientists and clinician-researchers in Greece to move from idea to impact. Through a combination of competitive selection, proof-of-concept funding, expert mentorship, and direct exposure to industry and investors, the program addresses the most critical gap in the innovation pipeline: early stage productization and validation.
BioSTART integrates three complementary pillars:
• The BioSTART Competition to identify and select promising ideas
• The BioSTART Fellowship to fund and support proof-of-concept development
• The BioSTART Community to connect cohorts, alumni, mentors, and partners
By aligning academia, industry, and funding, BioSTART strengthens Greece’s biotech ecosystem and accelerates innovation across healthcare, life sciences, and related sectors.
