Job Description

The Yacht Manager will act as the main point of contact for Owners and Captains, ensuring yachts are managed to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. This role involves oversight of technical management, budgets, surveys, crew matters, and client communication, always upholding IYC’s professional image. Key responsibilities:
  • Act as primary point of contact for owners, captains and crew.
  • Ensure Flag state & Class requirements are met and upheld.
  • Implement onboard IYC’s safety protocols and emergency response procedures, ensuring the safety of all onboard.
  • Coordinate survey, refit & shipyard periods with owner & captain; visit shipyards to determine quality of work and condition of the vessel & yard itself.
  • Negotiate major projects and service contracts, ensuring fairness.
  • Monitor yacht certifications and ensure timely renewals.
  • Maintain with the Yacht Management Assistants BLUE (company’s YM database) with current operational data (vessel certificates, crew records etc.)
  • Update the owner on the overall status of the yacht.
  • Work closely with owners and captains to oversee accounting & budgeting.
  • Propose annual & monthly operating budgets to the owner as per agreement.
  • Facilitate handovers between captains.
  • Uphold the professional image of IYC; promote the company and develop strong relationships with Captains and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications & requirements:
  • University Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working at sea, ideally with experience at Officer or Captain level on ISM yachts or previous Yacht Manager position; DPA designation is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC and related international yachting regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of onboard yacht operations across all departments (technical, deck, crew etc.).
  • Sound understanding of the yachting industry trends.
  • Excellent organizational, negotiation & mediation skills.
  • Ability to communicate fluently and confidently with clients on technical and operational matters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain efficient under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel, attend shipyards and visit yachts when required.
