INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR ARABIC SPEAKERS – SOUTH-EAST EUROPE PROGRAMME (ELIAMEP) & PALTHINK – ELIAMEP

The South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP is seeking a dynamic intern to contribute to the EU Funded EMBRACE project titled “EMBRACing changE – Overcoming Blockages and Advancing Democracy in the European Neighbourhood.” The internship, under the supervision of Dr. Ioannis Armakolas (Head of the South-East Europe Programme) and Mr. Omar Shaban (Director of the Gaza-based PalThink), is available for a part-time, unpaid position starting from March 2023, with a possible extension of three months.

The location is flexible, allowing for remote work or based in Athens, Greece.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers from the Gaza-based think tank “PalThink” to fulfill deliverables and execute the EU Funded EMBRACE project.
  • Conduct data collection and literature review in both English and Arabic documents, papers, etc.
  • Translation (if needed)
  • Provide support for various activities within the project and the South-East Europe Programme.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in social and/or political sciences or related studies.
  • Excellent proficiency in Arabic and English; knowledge of other languages will be positively considered.
  • In-depth knowledge of developments in the European Neighborhood, with a special focus on the Israel-Palestine case study and the Middle East.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to draft concise reports related to the research topic.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Microsoft, and other relevant organizational tools.
  • Strong critical thinking and collaborative skills.
