Shipping Operator Metal/Minerals
Main Purpose:
Shipping Operators are responsible for all aspects of executing physical marine containerized shipments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
• Marine Shipment execution of cargo as per contractually agreed terms in the earliest possible shipment in the safest and most cost effective way
• Close cross-internal department daily communication required to execute the contract (Concentrates Operations, Settlements team, Treasury etc.)
• Timely payments and accounts reconciliation with Shipping line
• Finding best routes and negotiating basic freight terms
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
We expect candidates to have a full understanding of the Containerized Shipments, Incoterms, logistical chain, risks involved and best practices as well as deliver proper & timely execution of Shipments
- 5 years’ work experience in shipping industry or related field
- Fluent English
- Basic understanding of MARPOL & IMDG regulations
- Good communication skills
- Good coordination skills
- Capability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

Key Responsibilities
- Plan & Organize Marine Containerized Shipments (inland & sea) between given load and discharge ports for various Commodities, in the most timely and cost efficient way
- Arrange Shipment Bookings
- Co-ordinate with packing stations (warehouse) for execution of pre-shipment activities
- Review shipment status and coordinate with Shipping lines
- Arrange for timely submission of VGM as well as Shipping Instructions as per Shipping line cut-offs
- Arrange for timely issuance of draft Bills of Lading, Merge or Split Bills of Lading
- Getting final Bills of Lading issued and dispatched to intended recipients
- Arrange timely payments and reconcile statements with warehouses and Shipping lines.
- Daily update of Shipment Bookings tracker with their respective status
- Daily communication with Shipping lines, warehouses for execution of bookings
- Daily internal coordination with Operations teams, Settlements team & treasury team etc.
